AMINO ACIDS AND FIBER IN FOODS
Amino acids are tremendously important in medicine, but not everyone realizes this. Certain drugs are made out of amino acids including L-dopa, alpha-methyldopa, etc. Amino acids are sometimes neurotransmitters in the brain.
Fiber is not quite as important, but the Boston diet, which I invented, is a high fiber diet. Fiber is useful for a number of reasons. It can help you lose weight. It is good for the gastrointestinal tract. It can protect you from constipation.
This animation was made by Arthur. Apples are very good for the Boston diet because they contain pectin, a beneficial fiber. They have very little protein, which is good on this diet. Dr. Tarnover invented the Scarsdale diet before he was murdered by his girlfriend, Jean Harris. The Scarsdale diet was a high protein diet for weight loss. That diet is useful for weight loss, but it will not help schizophrenia or depression.
Unfortunately certain plants contain hallucinogenic substances. One example is the peyote cactus, which contains both mescalin and DMPEA. The technical name for mescalin is TMPEA (trimethoxyphenylethylamine). These plants are not recommended.
Shown here is an example of protein. Protein is made of amino acids. The human animal has no fiber except in the digestive system, which cannot digest the fiber.
Eggs aren't exactly what the doctor ordered. They are banned from the Boston diet as well as the Pritikin diet and Kowalski's anti-cholesterol diet. They have too much cholesterol in the yolk. Also they have protein, which is restricted in the Boston diet.
This computer animation from Neuroscience for Kids shows the synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin from tryptophan, an important amino acid. This pathway may be altered in schizophrenia because tryptophan floods the brain cells (neurons and glia).

This dancing peach was also made by Arthur. The peach has fiber and is also low in protein. Therefore it is very good for the Boston diet.
This winking pear was also drawn by Arthur. Pears are good on the Boston diet. Fruits in general have fiber, water, vitamins, minerals, and polyphenols. The value of the polyphenols is controversial. In my opinion they are valuable because they can inhibit the enzyme COMT, which creates DMPEA. DMPEA may cause schizophrenia. It is only found in schizophrenics and in hallucinogenic cacti.
People who complain about mad cow disease have a legitimate beef. Beef is banned from the Boston diet for various reasons including the fat. It also has protein.
This drawing of a neuron is from Neuroscience for Kids. In schizophrenia the neuron is flooded with amino acids.
This graphic of the brain is from Dr. Chuldler's Neuroscience for Kids website. The brain is largely made up of amino acids and fat except for the ventricular system. The ventricles contain mostly water. The cerebrospinal fluid does have some amino acids in it. There is no fiber in the brain.
